DP World has entered into a partnership with Kenya’s Electronic Citizen Solutions (eCitizen) to implement its sophisticated digital customs solution, CARGOES Customs, via the government’s flagship services portal.
A long-term contract was inked in Nairobi recently, providing importers, exporters and licensed customs agents one of the world’s most sophisticated systems for handling customs declarations.
Mahmood AlBastaki, COO Digital Trade Solutions, DP World, stated: “Our agreement with eCitizen to bring the use of CARGOES Customs into wider use is a significant milestone in the drive to make trade in Kenya quicker and safer for traders, merchants and customs departments.”

“DP World’s cutting-edge technology is unleashing value for the global supply chain. CARGOES is leading the field in digital trade facilitation and we will keep on developing smarter systems which make trade flow possible.”
The eCitizen platform is already at the hub of Kenya’s trade infrastructure, including acting as the payment gateway for Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) services, where customers enjoy and electronic payments via digital wallets and bank transfers.
By offering a dependable alternative to the existing legacy KRA Customs system, traders and government agencies will now also enjoy a next-generation customs clearance channel.
The new solution will further assist the Kenya Revenue Authority’s (KRA) Customs Department, which will get access to DP World’s AI-facilitated risk management system as well as tools to boost inspection procedures, revenue collection, compliance monitoring and overall operational effectiveness.
