In line with its vision to be the World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility, and as part of its ongoing digital transformation drive, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is qualifying and training new drivers through the ‘Tadreeb’ digital platform. The platform links all driving institutes across Dubai, fully digitises training and qualification processes, automates assessments, and consolidates all trainee-related data.
Giving additional information, Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of RTA Licensing Agency, added: “The objective of the platform is to determine trainees’ needs based on data analysis and numbers, delivering quality training to drivers and licensing a group of professional, capable drivers. It further helps in attaining the highest degree of safety, improving performance quality, and reinforcing governance mechanisms as per global best practices.”
Mahboob also added: “The platform leverages cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies to qualify and train drivers at over 27 training institute locations with the assistance of over 3,400 trainers and over 3,000 training vehicles. The route of each vehicle is electronically geo-tracked and connected with the master system. The platform trains approximately 250,000 trainees every year with more than six million training hours a year, has been operating safely since its early days with a seamless, completely paperless user experience.
Some of the most important results of the ‘Tadreeb’ platform, which is administered by RTA’s Licensing Agency, are enhanced training quality, greater transparency and accuracy in trainee evaluation, and quantifiable contributions to lowering new drivers’ fatalities. The platform also facilitates decision-making by means of intelligent dashboards to track training indicators, enables complete automation of performance assessment standards and transactions, and optimizes services for training permits and contracts by connecting to the concerned issuing authorities. The integration has reduced wait times for permits by half, lowered operating expenses, improved remote monitoring through the Smart Licensing Centre, and attained 97% compliance by trainers with stipulated training phases.
RTA keeps collaborating with all strategic stakeholders in a way that guarantees safe and reliable training services. Safety and security standards compliance remains at the heart of its role, enhancing performance and adherence to all qualification and training benchmarks. Significantly, ‘Tadreeb’ is the world’s first integrated platform to gain recognition by the International Commission for Driver Testing (CIECA) and also received the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award this year.
The initiative also laid out a number of future directions to ensure its development and continuation for the next generation, primarily through using artificial intelligence to improve the customer experience, using data to individualise training, and automating training monitoring and governance.
