Lana Nusseibeh and Saeed Al Hajeri named as Ministers of State

In accordance with the orders of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced new ministerial appointments in the UAE Government today. 

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid issued the appointment of Lana Zaki Nusseibeh as Minister of State and the appointment of Saeed Mubarak Rashed Al Hajeri as Minister of State. 

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said, “After consulting with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, we announce today the naming of Lana Nusseibeh and Saeed Al Hajeri as Ministers of State within the UAE Government. We look forward to their success in performing their duties now and in the future and express our appreciation to all our national teams throughout the UAE for their commitment and service.” 

Lana Zaki Nusseibeh was formerly Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations between September 2013 and April 2024. Prior to the UAE’s membership on the UN Security Council, Nusseibeh co-chaired the Intergovernmental Negotiations on Security Council Reform between 2017 and 2019, where she moderated institutional reforms in the framework of the UN.

In 2017, Lana Nusseibeh was the Chair of the UN Women Executive Board and the Vice President of the United Nations General Assembly. She also co-chaired the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Revitalisation of the General Assembly from 2016 to 2017 and was the Co-Chair of the Friends of the Future of the United Nations Group with the United Kingdom since 2015. 

Saeed Al Hajeri has been the Chairman of Emirates Medicines Foundation since June 2025 and prior to that, he was the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Trade Affairs. He is a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Lewis & Clark College in the USA, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and an alumnus of the Advanced Executive Education Programme at Harvard Business School. 

Al Hajeri has occupied a number of senior leadership roles in prominent national and global institutions, such as Executive Director at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and Chairman of the CFA Institute.

He has also been a director on the boards of various strategic organizations, such as Chairman of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Chairman of Salama Islamic Arab Insurance Company, Board Member of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), and Board Member of Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination. 

In 2007, he was identified by the World Economic Forum as a Top 250 Young Global Leader. Al Hajeri has served on several national economic and investment committees and is presently UAE Sherpa to the BRICS Group, representing the nation at high-level international interactions.
