Mohammed bin Rashid Names Ahmed Al Sayegh as New Health Minister 

At the orders of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has announced a cabinet reshuffle. 

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid stated, “At the orders and by the blessing of the President of the UAE, we hereby announce today the designation of Ahmed Al Sayegh as Minister of Health in the United Arab Emirates.”.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to Abdul Rahman Al Owais for his unwavering commitment to the Ministry of Health for the previous years, whose time has seen remarkable developments to promote the federal health system… AbdulRahman Al Owais will remain on in the UAE Government as the Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs. We hope that both of them will succeed in completing their national responsibilities, and we send our warmest wishes to all United Arab Emirates’ national teams.”

The cabinet reshuffle also comprises appointing Ahmed Al Sayegh as Minister of Health and Prevention, and AbdulRahman bin Mohamed Al Owais will also remain as the Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs.” 

Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh was the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since September 2018. In this role, he was responsible for the economic and commercial affairs portfolio of the Ministry, with a focus on the strategy of economic diversification in the UAE. 

He oversaw the UAE’s bilateral relationships with countries in Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries, aiming to strengthen strategic partnerships and increase investments.

Besides serving in his ministerial capacity, Smith Al Sayegh is also the member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), a board member of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), Vice Chairman of Emirates Nature–WWF, and Co-Chair of the UAE-UK Business Council. 

He previously held various major leadership positions in the UAE’s public and private sectors. They include Chairman of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Chairman of Aldar Properties, Chairman of Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), Member of the Board of Etihad Airways Group, Member of the Board of Mubadala Investment Company, and Vice Chairman of First Gulf Bank. He has also held senior roles at both ADNOC and the Abu Dhabi Investment Company. 

Al Sayegh graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lewis & Clark College in the United States.
