- DGHR declares public holiday for Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday on Friday, 5th September 2025
The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) released a circular confirming that government departments, institutions, and all government entities will celebrate a holiday on Friday, 13th Rabi Al Awwal 1447 AH, which falls on September 5, 2025, to commemorate the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday. The Department further declared that official work would resume on Monday, September 8, 2025.
The Department pointed out that the holiday is in accordance with the guidelines of the Dubai Government on national and religious observances. The holiday serves to allow employees to mark this blessed day with their family, in a spirit of tolerance and unity.

DGHR made it clear that the circular will not be applicable to institutions and departments working on shift timings, offering essential public services, or managing critical facilities. Such organizations will determine the employees’ work schedule according to operational requirements to ensure continuous public services during the holiday.
