The Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), through its Rail Agency, has already completed the second phase of the comprehensive overhaul of the ventilation and air conditioning systems at the stations along the Red and Green Lines of the Dubai Metro.
The project falls under RTA’s Strategic Plan 2024-2030, that is covering the key pillars of Passenger comfort, customer happiness, long-term asset sustainability and operational efficiency, along with RTA’s vision as Global Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility.
The proactive project aiming to extend the lifecycle of the vital assets that are ensuring consistent performance and long-term reliability of the station cooling systems.
Phase 2, has a total of 876 ventilation and air conditioning assets that were overhauled across 14 stations and has two car parks with the Red Line, that has no impact on the train operations. This phase also builds after the completion of Phase 1, that covers 261 assets across 13 stations.
Operational resilience and passenger comfort are the core pillars of RTA’s maintenance strategy. A successful delivery of the phase has significantly improved the cooling performance and the reliability across the network.
While ensuring uninterrupted metro service, with a clear testament to commitment and coordination of all the maintenance team involved.
The extensive work involves the replacement and refurbishment of key components like air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), chilled water pumps, extract fans, smoke extract fans, and pressurization units.
The project scope encompassed tasks like bearing and cooling coil replacement, deep cleaning and dynamic balancing – restoring all the equipment to its original design performance.
