Authentic Chicken Shawarma Recipe
Shawarma is a street food in the MiddleEast made from lean meat strips, such as beef, chicken, or lamb, that aremarinated in spices and cooked on a vertical spit.

Mixing bowls to marinate the chicken.
Cast-iron skillet or grill pan so that you can get that smoky charred appearance.
Oven, optional for broiling or baking
Sharp knife for slicing the chicken thinly
Tongs or spatula to turn over the chicken

Measuring spoons and cups
- 1.5–2 lbs boneless chicken thighs
- 3 tbsp yogurt plain
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 3–4 pcs cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin, coriander, paprika
- ½ tsp turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1½ tsp salt
Mix all marinade ingredients.
Marinate chicken covered with the ingredients for 4+ hours.
Skillet-fry or bake at 425°F for 25–30 mins.
Rest, slice and serve in pita with toppings.
